We get this question a lot — and for good reason. If you’ve never joined a flotilla like Share the Sail before, it’s helpful to know what’s covered, what’s shared, and what you’ll need to budget for on your own.
Let’s break it all down.
What’s Included in Your Cabin Price
Here’s what you can count on when you book your Share the Sail adventure:
1. Your Own Private Cabin
You’ll stay aboard a modern, air-conditioned catamaran, in your own private cabin with either double or single occupancy. Most cabins have an ensuite bathroom (a.k.a. “head”), complete with toilet, sink, and shower.
2. A Professional Skipper
You’ll stay aboard a modern, air-conditioned catamaran, in your own private cabin with either double or single occupancy. Most cabins have an ensuite bathroom (a.k.a. “head”), complete with toilet, sink, and shower.
3. Provisioning for Breakfasts, Lunches & Snacks
We stock each boat with fresh groceries to cover:
Daily breakfast
Light lunches (think sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc.)
Assorted snacks
Bottled water
We’ll reach out in advance to gather your dietary preferences so we can plan accordingly.
4. Guest Portal Access
You’ll receive login access to our Share the Sail guest portal, where you can:
Fill out forms (passport, personality quiz, preferences)
View your trip schedule & packing tips
Join your private community to meet other guests
RSVP for virtual meetups and access important links
5. Pre-Trip Zoom Events
We host two optional Zoom calls prior to each trip:
A "Meet the Guests" virtual hangout
A live webinar-style Q&A for travel, itinerary & prep questions
What’s Shared (Split Among the Boat)
Some costs are shared among the 6–8 guests on your boat. These include:
FUEL
Each boat pays for its own fuel at the end of the trip. It’s usually a modest amount, depending on how much motoring is done (vs. sailing). Budget around $400–$800 per boat, split evenly.
Mooring & Docking Fees
Occasionally we use paid moorings, docks, or marinas. These costs are minimal and will be shared among the boat’s guests.
Dinners & Drinks
Dinner is not included. Most evenings, guests dine at local restaurants ashore — often together, sometimes in smaller groups. You’ll also be responsible for your own alcohol, soft drinks, and any special treats.
What’s Shared (Split Among the Boat)
Airfare and travel to the charter base
Hotel stays before or after the trip
Travel insurance (highly recommended)
Alcohol and soda
Dinner meals
Tips for your captain (at your discretion, suggested $150–$200 per guest)
Good to Know
We make provisioning simple — you don’t need to shop or plan meals
