Your 8-Day / 7-Night Sailing Adventure

PRELIMINARY ITINERARY

Exact itinerary may shift—because sailing’s all about chasing wind, not schedules. We’ll follow the breeze, trust the locals, and aim for maximum fun. Here’s a look at what this epic island-hopping adventure might look like.

ABOUT EACH ISLAND

Have a Few Hours in Trogir?

Arrival-day wandering, history, coffee, provisions, first/last meal

Tripadvisor's Historic City of Trogir currently sits at 4.6/5 with 3,500+ reviews, while St. Lawrence Cathedral and the central square are among the city's other major draws.

Things worth doing:

  • Walk the UNESCO-style historic center and simply get lost in the lanes.

  • See St. Lawrence Cathedral.

  • Walk the waterfront promenade.

  • Climb around Kamerlengo Castle if time allows.

  • Browse the Green Market for provisions/local items.

Coffee

  • CHI | Specialty Coffee Shop — 4.8/5. A tiny specialty-coffee spot in Old Town that reviewers repeatedly describe as among the best coffee they had in Croatia. Excellent pre-boarding coffee.

Hidden wine stop

  • Konoba "Potić" — tiny, family-run wine spot tucked into the old lanes. Homemade wine, olive oil and liqueurs, plus lots of interaction with the owners. This is much more in the spirit of what you want than a generic harbor bar.

Dinner

  • Konoba Fortin — family-run Croatian konoba, 4.6/5 with hundreds of reviews. Good "welcome to Dalmatia" food.

  • Restoran il Ponte — 4.9/5 and more upscale. Better candidate for a special pre/post-trip meal.

  • Extras — F R A N K A, Restaurant Cucina, and Tunaholic

DAY 2: SPLIT

Ancient History, Coffee, Food & Shopping

Wake up in one of Croatia's most exciting coastal cities. Split is a place where ancient Roman history isn't separated from modern life, cafés, boutiques, wine bars and homes exist inside and around structures that have stood for centuries.

You don't need a full-day tour to enjoy Split. Grab some friends from your boat and build your own perfect morning.

DON'T MISS

  • Diocletian's Palace — Built around the turn of the 4th century for Roman Emperor Diocletian, the palace complex now forms the heart of Split's Old Town. Wander through the ancient gates, courtyards and passageways while shops, restaurants and everyday city life happen all around you. This is the landmark we would prioritize in Split. Best for history, architecture and first-time visitors

  • The Peristyle — One of the most impressive surviving sections of Diocletian's Palace and an easy stop as you wander through the historic center. Best for history and photos

Coffee

  • 4coffee Soul Food — Tiny, simple and highly rated. This little specialty-coffee stop is essentially a hole in the wall with serious coffee and has become one of Split's most popular coffee recommendations.

  • D16 Coffee — Located right inside the Diocletian's Palace area, D16 is an easy stop to pair with your morning exploring Old Town.

FOOD & WINE

  • Zinfandel Food & Wine Bistro — A great choice for travelers who want Croatian wine without committing to a full winery excursion. The menu focuses on Dalmatian flavors and the wine list spans Croatian regions, with live music adding to the atmosphere during summer evenings.

  • Split Food Tour — Combine two of the best reasons to visit Split — its history and its food — with a guided walk through the city and tastings along the way.

SHOP & WANDER

Skip the generic souvenir hunt and look for Croatian jewelry, artwork, locally designed clothing, olive oil and specialty foods throughout the streets surrounding the palace. Then walk the Riva waterfront, grab a drink or find somewhere for a long lunch before heading back to the boats.

OUR PERFECT SPLIT MORNING

Specialty coffee → Diocletian's Palace → wander Old Town → local shops → Croatian lunch → back to the boats.

DAY 3: MILNA + BRAČ

Island Adventure, Beaches, Olive Oil & Local Food

Milna is our base for two nights, which means Day 3 gives you something rare on a sailing trip: time. Brač is a large island, and we'd encourage guests to get beyond the marina and choose one memorable way to experience it.

OUR TOP PICK

  • Museum Uja (Olive Oil Museum) — Located in the historic village of Škrip, this restored family olive mill takes you into one of Brač's oldest traditions. Learn how olive oil was historically produced and finish with a tasting of olive oil and local products. This is one of our favorite recommendations because it combines Croatian history, family tradition and food without feeling like another standard sightseeing tour.

THE ICONIC BRAČ OPTION

  • Zlatni Rat (Golden Horn Beach) — One of the most photographed beaches in Croatia, Zlatni Rat stretches into the Adriatic near Bol and is instantly recognizable from aerial photos. It can become very busy during peak summer, so we'd treat this as an option rather than something every guest needs to do. Pair it with lunch in Bol or a wine tasting to make the cross-island trip worthwhile.

ADD WINE TO THE DAY

  • Stina Winery — Located directly on the waterfront in Bol, Stina gives guests heading toward Zlatni Rat an easy way to add Croatian wine to the day.

  • Our suggested combination: — Explore Bol → Zlatni Rat → Stina wine tasting → return to Milna.

GET OFF-ROAD

  • ATV / Quad Island Adventure — Grab a few shipmates and explore Brač by ATV or quad. Head inland through the island's rugged landscape, old villages and viewpoints rather than seeing everything from the water.

GO HIGH

  • Vidova Gora — The highest point on the Adriatic islands offers incredible views across Brač and toward neighboring islands. Travelers consistently highlight the panoramic scenery from the summit.

EAT IN MILNA

  • Restaurant Bago — A family-run waterfront restaurant with strong reviews for fresh seafood and a terrace overlooking the water. The family behind the restaurant has generations of fishing ties to Milna, making this a strong choice for a true Dalmatian seafood dinner.

  • Restaurant Navigare — One of Milna's most consistently recommended restaurants, with seafood, Mediterranean dishes, local wine and harbor views.

  • Gajeta Konoba — A more casual konoba-style option for seafood and Mediterranean food.

THREE WAYS WE'D SPEND BRAČ DAY

  • THE CULTURE DAY — Olive Oil Museum → old Brač village → Croatian lunch → swim → Milna.

  • THE ADVENTURE DAY — ATVs/quads → viewpoints → beach → late lunch → Milna.

  • THE ICONIC DAY — Bol → Zlatni Rat → Stina Winery → waterfront dinner back in Milna.

DAY 4: STARI GRAD

Ancient Hvar, Wine Country & Slow European Evenings

Stari Grad is intentionally different from the Hvar you'll experience over the next two days. This is the quieter side of the island — old stone streets, small cafés, vineyards, olive groves and thousands of years of history. Don't rush through it.

EXPLORE OLD STARI GRAD

  • Tvrdalj Castle — The Renaissance home of Croatian poet Petar Hektorović hides one of Stari Grad's most distinctive spaces — a beautiful interior fishpond and garden behind its stone exterior.

It's compact enough to see while casually exploring town rather than sacrificing half your afternoon to another attraction.

BIKE THROUGH 2,400 YEARS OF HISTORY

  • Stari Grad Plain — Vineyards, olive groves and stone walls stretch across a landscape whose agricultural layout dates back to ancient Greek colonists. One of the coolest ways to see it is by bike or e-bike, riding through the countryside and stopping in neighboring villages or at a winery along the way.

WINE WITH A VIEW

  • Lacman Family Winery — Head into the hills above Stari Grad for natural wines, local bites and sweeping island views from a small family winery. Recent visitors particularly praise the setting and sunset views, although this is exactly the type of experience we'd recommend booking in advance rather than arriving with a huge group.

MAKE IT AN ADVENTURE

  • Hvar E-Bike Adventure — Guided and self-guided e-bike experiences run through the Stari Grad countryside, allowing you to combine vineyards, villages and the ancient plain in a single afternoon. Tripadvisor currently lists both guided and self-guided options around the Plain.

YOUR PERFECT STARI GRAD EVENING

Spend the late afternoon wandering the historic streets and waterfront, stop for a glass of local wine, browse shops and then settle into a long dinner. This night is supposed to feel very Europe. No giant party. No packed schedule. Just good food, old streets and somewhere you aren't ready to leave yet.

DAYS 5 & 6: PAKLENI ISLANDS

The Big Vacation Days

This is why you came on a sailboat. Instead of taking a tourist boat out to the islands for a few hours, we're waking up here. The Pakleni Islands are one of Hvar's highest-rated attractions on Tripadvisor, with travelers consistently highlighting the clear water, hidden bays and relaxed atmosphere.

FIND YOUR OWN COVE

  • Pakleni Islands — Spend the morning swimming straight from the boats, paddleboarding, snorkeling or taking a dinghy into one of the nearby coves. You don't need an excursion today. The boats are the excursion.

SPLURGE LUNCH

  • Zori Timeless Restaurant — Set in Vinogradišće Bay on Sveti Klement, Zori is a destination restaurant rather than a quick beach lunch. Expect seafood, Croatian wine and an upscale waterfront setting.

    Reservations are strongly recommended.

THE HIDDEN-GEM LUNCH

  • The Fisherman's House & Pension Tonči — It's a family-run, boat-access seafood restaurant where recent sailing guests describe arriving by charter boat, eating incredibly fresh fish and feeling more like guests at someone's home than customers at a tourist attraction.

THE PERFECT PAKLENI DAY

Wake up slowly aboard. Swim before breakfast. Explore a quiet cove. Paddleboard. Take the dinghy ashore. Spend two or three hours over lunch somewhere incredible. Come back to the boat. Swim again. Nap. Then shower, get dressed and head into Hvar Town. That is the itinerary.

HVAR TOWN

  • History by Day. Hvar by Night. — This is where the energy shifts. Hvar gives you history, shopping, restaurants and wine during the day — and one of the liveliest nightlife scenes on the Croatian islands after dark. Because we're staying in the area for two nights, you don't have to cram it all into one visit.

THE VIEW YOU NEED TO SEE

  • Fortica Fortress — Walk above Hvar Town toward the fortress for the classic view over the harbor and the Pakleni Islands. This is the photo.

SHOP HVAR

Spend the afternoon exploring boutiques, galleries and little stores throughout Old Town. Looking for:

  • Croatian jewelry

  • Local artwork

  • Lavender products

  • Olive oil

  • Croatian wine

  • Resortwear and local designers

Don't make shopping a fifteen-minute afterthought. Hvar is one of the best places on the route to simply wander and see what you find.

EAT & DRINK

  • Dalmatino — One of Hvar Town's most established and heavily reviewed restaurants. A strong option for guests who want a polished dinner before heading out.

  • Gurme Tapas & Wine Bar — Croatian wines paired with sharing plates in the historic center.

  • BackLane Craft Bar — A smaller cocktail-and-craft-beer option tucked away from some of Hvar's louder nightlife.

HVAR AFTER DARK

There isn't one correct Hvar night.

  • WANT FUN WITHOUT THE CLUB? — Have a nice dinner, find a wine bar, grab cocktails and wander Old Town after dark.

  • WANT THE SUNSET SCENE? — Head toward Hula Hula for sunset drinks and music before going into town.

  • WANT TO ACTUALLY GO OUT? — Hvar has late-night bars and clubs for guests who intend to make full use of the fact that we aren't sailing away first thing in the morning. And that's exactly why this part of the itinerary gets two nights.

DAYS 7: ŠOLTA

Local Croatia & One Last Island Night

After Hvar, we deliberately slow everything back down. Šolta isn't about chasing Croatia's biggest landmark.

It's about discovering an island where olives, honey, wine, fishing and small villages still shape everyday life. And Tripadvisor's traveler favorites reflect exactly that — some of the island's highest-rated experiences are small family producers rather than major tourist attractions.

SOMETHING DIFFERENT

  • Tvrdić Honey — Visit a family beekeeping operation to learn how honey is produced and taste different island honeys. It sounds simple, but this is exactly the kind of unexpected local experience people tend to remember because it's so different from anything else on the itinerary.

OLIVE OIL

  • Olynthia Olive Oil — Visit a family olive producer and learn about one of the ingredients you'll have eaten basically every day since arriving in Croatia. Pair a tasting with an island drive or bike ride.

LOCAL WINE

  • Winery Marinac — A small family producer working with local grapes, including Dobričić, a variety closely associated with Šolta. This isn't supposed to be a giant Napa-style winery excursion. That's exactly the appeal.

WHY CHOOSE ONE?

Šolta also has tasting experiences that combine wine, honey and olive oil, making this one of the most interesting places to organize a small island food-and-drink excursion.

MASLINICA

Return toward the coast and spend the final evening in Maslinica, a small harbor village on Šolta's western side. Walk around the waterfront. Go for one final swim. Grab a drink. Watch the boats come into the harbor. Then find somewhere for dinner.

FINAL-NIGHT DINNER IDEAS

  • Konoba Šešula — Set around nearby Šešula Bay and known for Dalmatian seafood.

  • Šampjer — A hillside restaurant above Maslinica where the setting and sunset views make it particularly attractive for the final evening.

OUR PERFECT ŠOLTA DAY

  • Have a slow morning around Pakleni. Sail to Šolta. Choose a local honey, olive-oil or wine experience. Explore Maslinica. Have one last swim. Get cleaned up. Watch the sunset over dinner. Then meet everyone for a final Share the Sail toast. No giant party required. This is the night you sit around the table realizing you somehow only met these people a week ago.

FIND YOUR KIND OF DAY

Not sure where to start? Here's what we'd choose based on how you like to travel.

  • FOR THE FOODIE — Split food tour → Brač olive-oil tasting → Pakleni destination lunch → Šolta honey/olive-oil tasting.

  • FOR THE WINE PERSON — Stina → Lacman Family Winery → Hvar wine bars → Winery Marinac.

  • FOR THE ADVENTURE PERSON — Brač ATVs → Vidova Gora → Stari Grad e-bikes → Pakleni snorkeling and paddleboarding.

  • FOR THE “I'M ON VACATION” PERSON — Coffee in Split → beach on Brač → long Stari Grad lunch → two days swimming around Pakleni → sunset dinner in Maslinica.

  • FOR THE NIGHT-OWL — Split wine bars → relaxed Milna evenings → quiet Stari Grad dinner → save your energy for Hvar.

A NOTE ABOUT RECOMMENDATIONS

These businesses and activities are recommendations we've found while researching our Croatian destinations and are intended to help you make the most of your free time.

Unless specifically listed as a Share the Sail group event, activities, drinks, transportation, entrance fees and reservations are not included in your trip package.

We strongly recommend making reservations for popular restaurants, wineries and excursions well in advance — particularly during Croatia's busy summer season.

And remember: you don't have to do everything.

Sometimes the best plan in Croatia is finding a stone alley, ordering a glass of wine and staying longer than you intended.
